lost horse mine
lost horse mine operated from 1894 to 1931 & produced more than 25,000 ounces of silver & gold in that time.
lost horse mine is one of the best preserved mines in the west & is easily accessible by the lost horse loop hiking trail. because the mine shaft remains open, the area has been fenced off to prevent visitor injury.
discovered by cowboy johnny lang while he was searching for a lost horse, lang would stay nearby for most of his life & was eventually buried close to what is now keys view road.
for the love of rocks
wandering around joshua tree with a toy lens.
black rock canyon
a morning exploring the black rock canyon area of joshua tree national park. this is a lesser known part of the park & though the campground is usually busy, it’s less packed than the main entrances.
joshua trees
another afternoon spent in joshua tree national park, this time with my 2010 nikon coolpix p7000.
the built in nd filter on this camera is really nice for days spent in the desert.
digi in the dusk
took my latest digicam on a drive through joshua tree national park in the late afternoon sun as storm clouds rolled in.
I’ve been having a lot of fun with the ricoh cx3’s “high contrast black & white” setting & I can’t wait to have some bright southern california spring days to play with.
