some favourite photos of 2023
I’m not normally a year end review kind of person but I have been thinking about all the photos I’ve made this year & wanted to reflect on the ones I’m most proud of. these are probably not the best technical photos ever made, but they are images that I thought “that’s rad” when making & look back on fondly.
they run the gamut from landscapes to street photography & were made on a variety of cameras in a range of locations & on different formats, though I’m a bit surprised to realize there isn’t much film in the mix. I think this year I learned that the camera & the gear matters less than I believed it did when I first got back into photography even if I did still buy a whole new setup this year (the fujifilm xpro3) which I still haven’t fully explored.
here’s to more adventures in 2024!

thinking about the poetry possibilities of gif making.
connections
I was contacted by a fashion graduate student a few months ago to use a poem I wrote as part of my poem a day project in a fashion film she was making. very interesting to see (& hear) poetry being used in this way.

poem-a-month
To refrain from neglecting my poet muscles I’ve just now today begun the “POEM-A-MONTH club”! This is a free monthly mini email containing a poem from me & some ideas to get you making your very own little poems! The first issue is going out 13 April, so subscribe ASAP.
new abouts about town
We’re in a new year so I thought the time was right for a new “about me” video. I think these little videos are really fun, & I’ll never pass up an opportunity to get my cat on camera.
Starting Fresh
The Salton Sea, one of the least fresh places in California.
As I learn to think more visually, & explore the world through my camera lens as opposed to through poetic ramblings, I'm transitioning to this imaged based blog.
This will be a place about travel, photography, the weird & wild. Stay tuned.
